Picture: Marshmallows & Cherry Heart Creams
These are the easiest and one of the tastiest mallows I have eaten.
Recipe taken and slightly adapted from the Taste Of Time recipe book by Sumaya Mitha.
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1 tblsp corn flour (Maizena)
2 tblsp gelatine
1/2 cup water
Food colouring (optional)
Desiccated coconut
Method:
1. Boil together sugar and water for +/- 8 minutes over medium heat.
2. Make a paste with corn flour, gelatine and water.
3. Add boiled mixture to paste together with a few drops of food colouring and beat on high for 20 minutes.
4. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and leave to set.
5. Cut marshmallows into squares and coat with roasted or coloured dessicated coconut. Alternatively you may coat with 100's & 1000's sweets or melted chocolate.
